“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.”
Life is precious. It moves so quickly that we seldom appreciate how much of it has passed until we find ourselves looking back. And sometimes, all it takes is a photograph to bring it rushing back.
A simple image can hold the excitement, fear, hope, pain, love, and loss of an entire life. We see more than the people and places it depicts. We remember who we were, what we felt, and the circumstances that made that moment worth remembering.
Billions of photographs are taken every day. Most will scarcely be looked at twice. They're easy to take, easy to discard, and now can even be generated at will. It's remarkable to consider that not so long ago, photographs were among a family's most treasured possessions, carefully preserved and passed from one generation to the next.
There's something worth recovering in that tradition.
A portrait artist approaches the camera with a different intention. Every consideration of light, expression, and composition serves a greater artistic vision. And unlike most works of art, a portrait is something you take part in creating. You become its subject, bringing to the work the character and individuality that no artist could supply alone.
What emerges from that collaboration is something worth living with. A work of art to adorn the walls of your home, to be admired today and entrusted to generations yet to come.
It's difficult to appreciate just how much life can happen in a single year, much less over the course of decades. The faces we know, the people we love, even our understanding of ourselves will change.
A portrait made today is a gift to the people we will become, and to those who will remember us.
Timeless Art. Uniquely Yours.
Every commission is planned personally, from the first conversation to the finished work on your wall. There is no menu of sessions to choose from, only the portrait we set out to make together.
It begins with a conversation about who you are, what this portrait should hold, and where it will live.
Light, setting, wardrobe and mood are considered in advance, so that the sitting itself can be unhurried.
A carefully directed session with time to settle in and simply be yourself. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is generic.
Each portrait is refined by hand with natural texture intact, then finished as archival artwork made to be lived with and handed down.
Commissions begin with an inquiry.
